“I want to show you someplace special.”
I’m sure we can all remember a time in our lives when someone turned to us and said words like this. We knew that we were being invited to share a closer kind of intimacy with them. Tillebierg Cathedral would be a place that carves itself into your heart, a first kiss of the soul. Both the building itself, as well the journey leading there are full of magic and surprises, each a destination in itself, leading up to the final place of magic.
At the building, there would be two main areas: A front area with mirror mosaics, which would glimmer at all times of day (with several solar-power color-changing LEDs projecting on them after dark). Benches would surround the perimeter for folks to come and enjoy the lightshow, with ample space for blankets and lawn chairs as well. This space stands as a work of art on its own, as well as a staging area for music, poetry, dance, or theatre.
Behind the building lives a “Graffiti Gallery,” windows painted with translucent graffiti art to look like stained glass. I want to embrace that locals have been using the building as a canvas for years, and invite local artists to create the pieces that hang in each window. Solar powered lights behind the windows will make this an exquisite art show to walk nightly.
I have identified several other places where pieces of art could emerge. Some ideas illustrated below, and many others I would love to tell you about. I see a lot of opportunity for input and collaboration with local artists/artisans as well!

I very much like the respect with which you embrace and amplify what is already happening on this spot with your concept.
(if you manage to find them you would turn the local grafity makers from vandalists to artist 🙂
