alison darby

Alison Darby is a british-luxemburgish artist who was born in 1986 in Belgium.

After studying classical piano at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons, she studied one year of painting in 2011 in the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerpen. In 2012 she started studying sculpture in the Universität der Künste Berlin and got the title of Meisterschülerin in 2018 in the class of Manfred Pernice.

In her sculptures and installations she deals with the esthetic appearances of surfaces in urban space, where social, political and historical structures become visible.

Her works have been shown in multiple group exhibitions („Fountain“, Stadtbibliothek Luisenbad, Berlin, 2019, „Retina“, Zeiss-Grossplanetarium, Berlin, 2020). In 2019 she participated in the Internationales Bildhauersymposium Welchenhausen where she made a stone sculpture for the sculpture path in the Ourtal.

Alison Darby has worked in different collective constellations with other artists. With the collective FroonTimmer she took part in different exhibitions in Berlin (Display 2017) and abroad (Galeri Fisk, Bergen, NO, 2016, CAN, Neuchâtel, CH, 2019). She built a temporary concrete monument in Berlin urban space with the artist Tama Ruß, that started the impuls for the communal garden and initiative DaWoEdekaMaWa. Since 2020 she researches about art in public space in the district Pankow with the collective x-embassy.
